Hey, it's Boots!
It's time to talk about the birds and the bees this week when it comes to open-heart surgery or any surgery or life stressor for that matter... after all, it's Valentine's Day this Friday for those that celebrate. It's also time to talk about ED and what that means for your health whether you were born with male bits or female bits. Hang with me...
Sex. It can be a taboo topic for many, especially in the U.S. We kinda stink at talking about it in a healthy way. The same can be said about the topic of death. Both are critical parts of our lifespan.
For me, not a single doctor talked to me about my sexual health prior to or after my heart surgery. Not a mention. Most women report the same. It should be a hot topic in cardiac rehab, yet most women are never referred. Even though men are more often referred, sex is often not addressed. In today's episode, Dr. Kelly addresses ED first and then, this Friday, in honor of Valentine's Day, we are airing an entire episode on the topic of sex and how to know when it is safe to return to the bedroom for more than just sleep. You have so much to look forward to. :)
Time out...Before we get to today's episode in depth, I aired a series back in October 2024 with my cardiac dietitian, Michelle. She is hosting another 6-week optimize group. Dr. Kelly says in today's episode if you are having trouble "hoisting the sail" (male or female) that could be a warning sign. This episode is for everyone. Be sure to share this knowledge with every pelvis you know. We want all pelvises to be happy and thrive.
